6’0 & UNDER SEASON

CHAMPIONSHIP WRAP UPS

Sunday, August 16, 2009, the 9th season for 6’0 and under championship was the first time for both teams; the HITSQUAD and the GENESIS. Brad Archangel started dominating with 10 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists in the first quarter alone. In the second half, the GENESIS continued to stay competitive even without one of their star player Kent “SPECIAL K” Evans. Kent did not showed up at all to help GENESIS in the championship because of his ankle injury.

Brad Archangel would hit back-to-back 3 pointers in the 2nd half to give the HITSQUAD their largest lead, and also Joe “THE HOOPER” Rufino with his career high points in the championship with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Alvin “TRIGERMAN” Vinoya was cold during the 1st half and tried to make a comeback in the fourth quarter with 17 points, but it was all Chris Der would dominate the 4th quarter for the HITSQUAD 65-54 lead.

The GENESIS, were out of time outs, so all they could do was shooting a 30-foot jumper from the ranged but couldn’t hit a basket. The GENESIS only made 12 of their 25 shots in the 2ND half and Alvin Vinoya scored 13 points in the second half. The biggest decision of the game from team captain Joe Rufino was putting Joey from the HITSQUAD on the Alvin “TRIGGERMAN” from shooting his 3 pointers, while Dale Tabor guarded Ace Aspiras down below from getting Ace the rebound. This proved to be useful as Joey stopped Alvin “TRIGGERMANfrom going off keeping him to only 21 points and 7 assists.

Larry “WOLVERINE” was on bench and only played 9 minutes for the entire game. Oliver "THE DEFFENDER" Freeman, was every where with his amazing defensive, but didn't have enough helped from his teammates. Ryan ‘THE ONE” tried his best by taking over the game for the GENESIS, but he was always go shutdown going to the basket. The hero of the championship was Brad who led the HITSQUAD with 23 points and with the helped from his teammate Joey with 13 points. For Alvin, this shooting drought would only prove to be temporary and Alvin would hit his next 8 shots in return.

The GENESIS was in the game even when HITSQUAD was leading 57-50.  GENESIS refused to go down and bring the deficit down to 3 points lead in the 4th quarter, but that is the closest. However, Brad Archangel would score half of the HITSQUAD points, to win the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
