CONGRATULATION TO OUR NEW DEFENDING CHAMPIONS

"HOYAS"

2011-2012

FILCOM CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES:

Season Comes Down to Unpleasant Finish:

"They came, they saw, and they saw some more, mostly the other team winning. But celebrate the PRIMETIME did not, not for a third consecutive season".

Hayward, CA. For the third straight season, the PRIMETIME team has been picked to win the Conference Championship in FilCom Basketball Association.

Sunday, July 24, 2011

Hayward Ca, after 48 minutes of play, three missed shots ended the PRIMETIME

team's for the three-peat Champions. The PRIMETIME lost to the team HOYAS on

Sunday late afternoon on a championship game at the Matt Jimenez Gym, in Hayward.

PRIMETIME (35-1-0) entered the match as a two-time defending champions after

claiming 2 titles, one in winter of 2010 and the other was in spring of 2011.

"Winning two FilCom titles in a row and going to the Championship finals three

seasons in a row doesn't happen very many times," said PRIMETIME Center

Alex “MR. FANTANTIC” Martin, who played in all three championship matches.
"It sucks that we didn't put it away for the third one, but not that many

teams get to do that. "We have to keep our heads up high because now we really

have a legacy at FilCom Association, and it's something that might not happen

again for our team PRIMETIME.

PRIMETIME played team HOYAS (17-7-0) to a scoreless tie throughout

regulation and almost went to an overtime period. But in the last

twenty-four seconds of the 4 quarter, team PRIMETIME was down

3 points, 52-55, and guard Marlowe “ACE” Banatao also was voted

and received a crystal award for the BEST POINT GUARD in FilCom,

fake a three points shot, as his defender jumped in towards Marlowe

and tried to block the shots, and tried to avoid fouling Marlowe.

But, Marlowe is one of the smartest point guard, as he uses his body

and was fouled, and going to the free throw line to tie the score,

but Marlowe missed all the three shots and PRIMETIME had no choice

but to foul. It was a great game, players, family and spectators that

they will never forget. "My players understand that no matter who we

play, as long as we play our game and play hard and play with a lot

of passion and pride, it doesn't matter what team we're playing, what

color uniform they're wearing or where they're from, we will play hard

till the scoreboard hit zero" said Ryan, team captain from HOYAS. When

HOYAS won the semi finals last week againts the STAGS, that game gave

them a lot of motivation, and they finally realize that they could do this.

HOYAS defense has been playing fantastic. Their center Lopez Lupe,

the Regular Season MVP has been holding down the middle of the court.

Their forwards players have been a great help too, throughout the season,

it's been one or the other. But since they've gotten all three working together,

they've been tough to stop. The first half of the game, the score was going back

and forth, at the half it was tie game 28-28. HOYAS was missing all thier free-throws

and trying to take a big lead, but PRIMETIME always bounce back and score. The champs

also is hampered with one injury heading into the championship. Marlowe was injured

during the playoffs when they played DC Bullets. Marlowe twisted his ankle when he

landed in a wrong possesion, that his ankle is at 80 percent. With less than a week

until the PRIMETIME championship game against the HOYAS, Marlowe's ankle was not 100 percent.

The MVP CHAMPION went to Mark Costa with 14 points and 8 rebounds and he was helped

by David with 11 points and 5 rebounds with hard fought victory over the 2nd-time

defending champions PRIMETIME,60-55. The PRIMETIME had Marlowe "ACE" Banatao with 15 points and 2 rebounds, with Isiah and Alex Martin both scored 10 points apiece in a big lost.

ALL PLAYERS KEEP PLAYING HARD AND SEE YOU ALL NEXT SEASON. REMEMBER THE WATCHER IS ALWAYS WATCHING.

To All the teams, thank you for participating in FilCom. The next Season will start on Sunday, August 7, 2011. thank you.

THE SEASON LEAGUE COACH AWARD

Hayward Ca. The Committee of FilCom Basketball Association announced that Ryan will be the coach of the season and will be awarded on August 7, 2011, on the opening game day. This is his first championship title with FilCom. “It’s an opportunity that if you’re very fortunate comes once in your life and I never thought I would ever have this opportunity. What an incredible honor it is to be selected." said Brian Acosta.

There are a lot of good coaches on the league, but there’s no better coach in FilCom as Ryan, we are delighted to be able to have a coach of his caliber lead the HOYAS team to the championship. The HOYAS basketball team has achieved tremendous success over the season and as winner of the championship, the expectations remain very high. Brian Acosta success as HOYAS head coach, both his win-loss record and the development of his players, speaks for itself and makes him a perfect choice to take hold of the reins." Brain has never missed a single game when his team is playing. He will be first one to be in the building to arrive and he will talk to his players as they come to the building for their strategy against their opponents. He’s very supportive when it comes to his players and his family.

“I know as a player, this is an opportunity to play for the best coach in FilCom Basketball. I’m very happy. Ryan has the passion and smarts to be a successful coach. He knows how to make talented players into a dominate unit and challenges players in ways no one can” said "one of the committee for FilCom Basketball Association".

Brain Acosta knows how to win and obviously he knows what he's looking for in his players and his team to perform as a group. He’s definitely looking forward to coming back and playing for Filcom to defend their title as the CHAMPIONS.
